Apple released iPhone firmware 2.2 tonight, after many expected they would release the software update tomorrow morning. Containing new features for Google Maps, a revised Safari layout, bug fixes, and other small UI settings updates, the new firmware is pretty hefty at almost 250MB and is available now via iTunes.

After swirling rumors and no confirmations, Verizon has finally confirmed a November 21 launch date for the BlackBerry Storm.
