iTunes 8.0 is here, NBC back on iTunes, HD TV shows on iTunes, and Genius

First up from Apple’s ‘Let’s Rock’ event, iTunes. Steve first proclaimed iTunes has 65 million accounts on record and that they are the number 1 music retailer in the US. Next, Jobso added HD TV shows to the iTunes store, available for $2.99 with standard content still at the $1.99 price point. Oh happy day, peace is here with the next item on the list: NBC content is back on iTunes, meaning NBC, Bravo, USA, and SciFi are all on iTunes. The biggest update to iTunes is the launch of version 8.0. Nothing to major came in the release, except for the introduction of the new Grid view (which is very similar to the way users view pictures in iPhoto) and Genius. Genius is basically Apple’s music recommendation service. It looks at what you are listening to and will not only recommend songs for you to buy on iTunes, but recommend other songs to listen to in your library. That was the big iTunes new for Apple’s event today.
