Apple tells resellers to prepare for stock shortages - in other words: prepare for new products

According to AppleInsider, Apple sent out bulletins to resellers “strongly suggesting” that they place orders for 4 weeks worth of top selling iPods and 3 weeks worth of MacBook and MacBook Pro models (the MacBook Air wasn’t mentioned.) All of this is due to limited supplies starting as soon as in 7 days. Basically, Apple’s telling suppliers to stop making the current products (iPods, MacBooks, and MacBook Pros) and will start getting the new products out soon. A mid-September launch date is currently expected for new products.

Adding to evidence of a new product, the latest firmware beta for the iPhone and iPod touch used a new code to represent iPod touch: 2,1 instead of the current 1,1 - this suggests that a new iPod touch could be released soon.
