Engadget leader Ryan Block stepping down to start new company

photoEditor-in-Chief of Engadget, one of the largest tech blogs out there, Ryan Block confirmed today that he will be stepping down from his current position to start a new company with the founder of both Engadget and Gizmodo, Peter Rojas. According to Block, the new company will be online and gadget-related, but not a direct competitor of Engadget. Block’s role as Editor-in-Chief will be left in the hands of Josh Topolsky, while Joshua Fruhlinger will oversee the AOL Tech network (including TUAW, Download Squad, Switched, and the Engadget network). Block will stay with Engadget as Editor-at-Large after he resigns in late August, because as he puts it, “there’s also simply no way I can give up working with Engadget that easily.”
