iPhone 3G activations break iTunes servers (UPDATE - Servers are up-and-running)

The heavy use of iTunes to activate iPhone 3G’s today has completely killed the iTunes servers. After getting in line at 5:30 am to be the 11th, 12th, and 13th, the blargKABOOM team didn’t get out of the AT&T store until 9:30 since activation took a near 30-40 minutes. AT&T eventually decided to semi-activate the phones and to let the users activate AT HOME THROUGH iTUNES. Unlike their original, very strict plans about in-store activation to stop unlocking.

UPDATE - THE SERVERS ARE APPARENTLY BACK UP AND RUNNING.
