App Store to go live tomorrow

Forbes has heard from three people briefed on the matter that Apple will launch the App Store tomorrow at 9 am PT, coinciding with the launch of iPhone 3G in New Zealand. If they release iTunes 7.7 before or around that time, that technically means that we could start downloading apps before we get iPhone 2.0 firmware on current iPhones. Or if they really want to pull something, they could also release the iPhone 2.0 firmware for current iPhone users, giving all the features and adding MobileMe support for the service that will launch tonight. We’ll have to check back on this one when time comes tomorrow morning.
