TIME Magazine’s iPhone G3

Have you heard of iPhone G3? No? Me neither. But apparently, someone at TIME Magazine has. In a photo essay of the history of cell phones, TIME has this for 2008: “The iPhone G3 Steve Jobs unvels the latest generation of his revolutionary product. The G3 is faster and less expensive than its predecessor.” Making it even more shocking, TIME’s picture resembles Apple’s iPhone 3G… that Steve Jobs unveiled and that is faster and less expensive than its predecessor. Hmmmmmm, something seems fishy here…

TIME has since edited the caption to the correct iPhone 3G title.

  1. I think they have corrected it .. good catch anyways :)

  2. “TIME has since edited the caption to the correct iPhone 3G title.”

u probably didn’t catch that part at the bottom.

  3. The iPhone is pretty good. I haven’t played around with smart phones too much (or PDA’s) but I love the fact that you can go online and see the internet the way its supposed to look. I really don’t know too many other phones that really show the internet the way it looks on your desktop.

I know sometimes that is too much, but I like it. I am into blogging, web design, and so forth so for me, I need to “see” the website. For whatever reasons, other phone companies just do not care enough to make that happen. (they could just use Opera, but for some reason they don’t).

Anyway, iPhone is a great thing… I heard the voice quality is bad though, I guess I won’t find out until September when i get one.

  4. aaahhh….ya, i think its just a typo, but G3 would make sense. The next iPhone would be generation 3, and in typical Apple fashion, i would’t be suprised if they just switched it around from 3G to G3, but its anyones guess. And anyway, why would they release such sensitive info. to TIME? If we where expecting another iPhone to be released in a few weeks time, i can see why they would have their hands on one for reviews sake, but right now it makes no sense.

  5. Steven – THIS IS A TYPO, there is no secret source about iPhone G3. Apple has never used generation in the name of a product, they’ve done G4, G5 – but only because that is the PowerPC processor name. They made a typo, they are not thinking about a next-generation iPhone.
