iPhone news: AT&T site shows ‘iPhone Black,’ SingTel to carry iPhone in Singapore, India, Australia, and Philippines, and Telecom Italia Mobile exec says 3G iPhone next month

Another day, more iPhone stories to report.

  • First off, AppleInsider was the first to report of AT&T showing “iPhone Black” as a model option for existing users. AT&T recently commented on the issue to Gizmodo, saying that it is just a temporary placeholder that was used to distinguish between models (4GB, 8GB, 16GB). If it was just a placeholder for models, why not use actual storage size to distinguish them.
  • Next, SingTel has announced that it (and its subsidiaries) will carry iPhone in Singapore, India, Australia, and the Philippines “later this year,” providing no other specifications.
  • Lastly, executive vice president for technology and operations at Telecom Itialia Mobile (TIM) Luigi Licciardi not only stole Steve Jobs’ thunder, but confirmed the many rumors by saying that, “we will be selling an iPhone with 3G capability next month.” Now we have a solid confirmation from a carrier that next month is the release date, the next step: Steve Jobs makes an official announcement.
Carrier announcements, 3G iPhone rumors - just a normal day in the world of Apple.
