iPhone beta firmware includes Search bar in Contacts, meeting invitations in Calendar

Just as we found about a month ago, Apple has placed search in Contacts. At the top of the contacts list there is now a search bar that works similarly to the iTunes WiFi store’s search. The search finds contacts letter-by-letter as you type and narrows the list down. More pictures soon, but the updated iPhone Simulator does feature the search bar. Check it out by downloading the SDK and openning the iPhone Simulator program, or open a new iPhone App in Xcode and click run.  The feature is currently only viewable in the Enterprise beta, but will hopefully get out into the regular beta soon. In the latest and greatest SDK update (the third beta version,) the iPhone Simulator DOES include the search function. The search feature was first spotted at Apple’s SDK event in a screenshot during the keynote. This is one of the most sought after features that is missing from iPhone, so this June’s software update should definitley contain this search feature and other missing ones.

The next feature spotted in the Enterprise beta is the ability to get invitations to events through your Enterprise setup. The mysterious icon found in the bottom left hand of Calendar gets and shows awaiting invitations and you can then state whether you’ll be going, add comments, and choose settings. The Calendar icon on the Home screen will also reflect how many invitations you have with a notification similar to new messages in Mail and SMS.
