Calendar’s new button and revised iTunes, Calculator icons in iPhone firmware 2.0

picture-35.jpg

At the SDK event earlier this week, there were a bunch of small little tweaks that Apple made to the iPhone. Most notable were the iTunes icon and the Calculator icon. Then we found the Spotlight icon in the Contacts. Now after looking around even more, I’ve noticed that the buttons for Calendar have moved from the top to the bottom, and that a new button has been added to the bottom right of the Calendar application. It looks like a download icon, which I’m guessing would mean to check the server for new events, but I’m not positive. What’s funny, though, is that the version of the interface Phil Schiller demoed and the version he showed screenshots of are different. In the screenshots, the Calendar app shows the old button style, on the top (with no “download” button), but in the demo he showed Calendar with the buttons on the bottom.

  1. That actually looks kind of similar to the notifications icon in iCal when you have new items — maybe that’s sort of an “inbox” for the calendar, since they’re adding automatic syncing and whatnot.

  2. Looks like the show/hide icon from iCal…could just be a way to hide the options at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Very cool! I think this will be the best firmware update yet!
