Apple will allow VoIP apps for iPhone over Wi-Fi

Steve Jobs said during the Q&A today Apple will allow VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) apps for iPhone, all they will do is prevent it from using the cellular network to make calls. This announcement is really big news for iPhone owners out there, because it basically means that instead of having to waste minutes when your at home or at a friend’s house or at a coffee shop, you can use Wi-Fi to make a call over the internet.

That’s great because it will at least help me workaround the significant coverage gaps I’m having with the AT & T network. If I didn’t love my iPhone so much, I’d go back to Verizon.
