During one of the recent iTunes Video Spotlight emails Apple sends out, Apple announced that every Thursday there would be a new $0.99 movie rental available. The special price is good Thursdays until Mondays, but the regular movie rental rules still apply.

Apple cut the price of iPod shuffle today, bringing the 1GB version down from $79 to $49. Also, they announced a 2GB shuffle for $69 which is coming soon.

Straight from Toshiba’s press conference happening right now in Japan, before they even started speaking, “Toshiba Announces Discontinuation of HD DVD Businesses.” They will no longer “develop, manufacture and market HD DVD players and recorders.” They will cease production approximately March 2008, HD DVD disks for applications and games will end then as well.

The Apple Store was down this morning and when it came back, Aperture 2 popped up and surprised us. The new Aperture will retail for $199 and be available as a $99 upgrade for previous versions. It is apparently much faster and includes “over 100 new features.”
