Time Capsule’s February shipping date almost up (UPDATE - Some orders “preparing to ship”) (UPDATE 2 - Shipping this week)

capsuledelay.jpgTime Capsule, Apple’s new wireless base station and wireless hard drive, has, in a way, been forgotten by most. Since Apple announced it at MacWorld, they haven’t really done much about it. The Apple Store still says “Ships: February,” but with only three days left until February is over, it doesn’t seem like this will ship. Obviously, Apple has another major priority now, the SDK for iPhone and iPod touch, but shipping products would most likely be an easy thing. So, unless Apple pulls a rabbit out of its hat and miraculusly ships Time Capsule and gets developers the SDK in three days, that’s two products that aren’t released on time. The “fashionably late” rule doesn’t apply to technology Apple  lets see some products delivered on time in the near future please.

UPDATE - AppleInsider and many other sites are reporting that Apple is finally fulfilling Time Capsule pre-orders just in time for February’s end. Some users are now seeing a “Preparing to Ship” status when they check their order, which is definitely something. Hopefully they’ll start rolling into Apple Stores soon so we can actually see one hands-on.

UPDATE 2 - Apple has confirmed they are shipping this week.
