How To: Install iPhone 1.1.3 jailbreak

Ok, so after hearing that they’ve released the 1.1.3 iPhone jailbreak, I decided to go for it. The steps are very simple:

1. Have a 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 jailbroken iPhone – if you already updated to 1.1.3 then follow these steps to downgrade from Hack That Phone. I updated to 1.1.3, so this part is featured after the “Read more”.

2. Download the 1.1.3 jailbreak from Nate True’s blog.

That’s it. The process takes a bit of time so be sure to have enough time to do it. You’re going to need to download things like restore files and other applications, so make sure you have an internet connection. Also, if you haven’t downloaded the 1.1.1 firmware update, either from Apple or from another place on the internet, that will most likely add another hour to the process.

NOTE: If you’ve ever updated your iPhone to 1.1.1 before through iTunes, then you’ve already downloaded the file. Its located in Macintosh HD/Users/(name of your Home folder)/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates/ and in this folder is where all of the software updates you’ve ever downloaded through iTunes are located.

Here we go – Downgrading process.

So I’m following the instructions from Hack that Phone. After I restore the phone to 1.1.1 it says the “Incorrect SIM” error, but I just kept going. Now, I’ve gotten to the part where it says to type “cd /usr/bin virginize” so I type that into Terminal and it says “zsh: command not found” so I’m thinking “thats not good”, so I decided to Restore the phone back to 1.1.3 because I not only didn’t have the Virginize command, but it said SIM Error too. So I restore the phone and it goes back to a fully working 1.1.3 iPhone. Now I start the process all over again, eventually both of those things happened (SIM Error and “command not found”), so I decided to just follow the instructions after Virginize and keep going. Well, it worked after I kept going. I’ve now completed the process to Jailbreak the 1.1.1 phone. I’m not gonna go up to 1.1.2 because all I need for the 1.1.3 jailbreak is 1.1.1 jailbroken.

1.1.3 Jailbreak

So I’ve downloaded the 1.1.3 jailbreak from Nate True and I’m following the instructions, I’ve hit enter a couple of times and now it tells me to go and install 1.1.3 soft upgrade. I do that, but after it downloads it, it stops half-way through the installation stage (on the actual iPhone), then it says “Main execution script fail” or something very similar. So I then for some reason decided to hit enter in the Jailbreak on the actual computer, and then I clicked the home button on iPhone, and all of a sudden all I could see were the dock icons and a spinning wheel in the center. It stayed there for at least 5 minutes, so I restarted the phone. After it booted up, it shows me that I Rearrange the Home screen. Just incase I was dreaming, I click Installer and it loads. I click Maps, to see if its the new interface (it is). SO 1.1.3 WORKED ON MY iPHONE.
