iTunes Digital Copy very sneaky
Most likely, you know that Fox and Apple have teamed up to release an iTunes Digital Copy with certain DVD’s. This means that not only can you watch a movie in the DVD player, but you can insert it into one computer and get a copy for iTunes. The sneaky thing is, it’s not the most obvious thing to find one of these. The only DVD to have this now is the Family Guy : Blue Harvest DVD and the way to recognize if its the Digital Copy version is if it has the logo above that says Digital Copy. No where does it mention iTunes, have a nice Apple logo, or anything. From what I see now, it doesn’t look like either company is making a big deal out of this and it doesn’t look like a big thing. So make sure that the DVD you’re buying has that sticker on the outside, because that is the only way to tell if you’re getting a copy to play on iPod, iPhone, Apple TV and computer.
UPDATE - After checking with Fox’s Digital Copy website, this is not an exclusive iTunes thing as I previously thought. The Fox site doesn’t feature many references to iTunes and mostly mentions Windows Media and PlaysForSure products. Also Fox’s site mentions Live Free or Die Hard being available with Digital Copy, but it doesn’t seem like it since no other site mentions this.
