Want to use a wireless hard drive on Time Machine without a Time Capsule?
But what about the rest of us who already have networked Hard Drives in our homes? (I have a Western Digital 1TB which was $150 at BestBuy.)
Well, your in luck.
There are actually two ways to enable wireless Time Machine back-ups without Time Capsule.
#1) Use a software called iTimeMachine which enables “AirDisks and Network Disks.”
#2) Open your applications folder on your Leopard Mac, you will find a Utilities folder. Open that and open the application called “Terminal.” Once you open it up, you can just copy and paste this text
and then hit enter, and you can use a wireless Hard Drive with Time Machine! I myself have been doing this for the past couple of weeks, and it works great!
