Computer-to-Computer internet sharing = brilliant

learning-slide01.jpg
Incase you didn’t know, I was lucky enough to receive an XO Laptop for the holiday season. I had one problem though, it couldn’t connect to the internet. I tried to get on to my Airport Extreme, but it didn’t work (even with the instructions on converting the password to hex.) So today, while I was updating my iPhone, I decided to downgrade again to 1.1.1 and hack my phone so I could get rid of the blargKABOOM cellular network I was on (instead of showing AT&T.) When I got to the part where I had to re-jailbreak me iPhone to change it back, I couldn’t connect to my Airport (it was broken). I decided to try Computer-to-Computer internet sharing. So I went into System Preferences, clicked sharing, clicked internet sharing, did all my settings and voila, I had made a new wireless network. (It’s similar to the mesh-network of the OLPC.) So on my iPhone I selected it and continued the process. Just now, I realized I could do the same thing with my XO. So I just connected to it and now I’m on the internet. I just wanted to share that story with all of incase any of you are having the same issue. So if you’re Airport is ever down, use an ethernet port and setup a Computer-to-Computer network from your computer.
